School Year Celebration

It's almost here! Our year end celebration is Saturday, April 30 at 6:00pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm and we will begin eating at 6:00pm. This is a fun time of eating yummy food with a pot luck dinner and celebrating the students' accomplishments. Please bring one main dish plus one side dish (or dessert) to share. If you know someone who would like to meet other homeschoolers, or may be interested in REACH, they are welcome to come and enjoy the evening with us. Of course guests do not need to bring any food.

In addition to eating, we celebrate by giving an opportunity for students to invite grandparents or other special guests to view some of their work on display. The KinderPrep and Kindergarten displays will be in their classrooms with other student displays throughout the area. Students from the history class will have a living history museum for you to visit after the meal.

We have a sign up sheet on the table for plastic/paper ware for use at the party. We try to collect more plates, napkins etc than needed and give the surplus to the church. You may bring these products Tuesday to make Saturday easier. Thank you.

Looking to the Future:

We are in an exciting time for the co-op. We have almost completed our fourth year and now have an advisory council and are in the process of reviewing and restructuring some things to help meet the needs of our growing community of families. A previous post, copied below will give you some ideas of what is in the works in class offerings. Keep watching for more details on classes and more.

School Picture Day April 19!

Becky Wolfe will be here to take school photographs. Head shots or full body poses are available. There is more information and sign up sheets on the administration table. Please note that each child needs to have their own form and that payment is due the day of picture taking. If you would like a group photo of siblings, please note that on a form.

What's In The Works?

Plans are underway for next year. Here is a sneak peak at a few things!
  • Addition of a second KinderPrep class
  • Addition of Middle School History class: We are happy to have Jennifer H. teaching this course. She has a teaching degree with a bachelors in history, but even more import, she has a passion for it. This is an opportunity you will want to take advantage of for your middle schoolers.
  • Music/Choir classes alternating with elementary PE classes
  • Creative Arts/Drama class which will include designing a set for their own production (How cool will this be!)
  • Elementary Science classes will be studying earth science. Demitris S. will teach Science 1 (1st – 3rd grades) and Jennifer H. will now teach Science 2 (4th – 6th grades) These ladies will bring a lot to your students, including the experience of formerly teaching in elementary schools.
  • IEW classes will be offered as a basic class and an advanced class
  • PE classes for Elementary and Middle School continue to be a favorite
  • Elementary history class and new Middle School history class will be covering the same time period. They are also at the same time of day, allowing the opportunity of some shared activities.
  • Literature class will continue with some great books and great discussions
  • Middle School General Science class continues with Laura Ericson. So nice to have the opportunity to study with her in middle school and then go on to her high school science program.
Details and Registration information will be available in a few weeks.

Valentines Day Celebration

Each Valentine season we provide a special opportunity for our students to have fun, be creative, show others they care, and yes—eat goodies! This year we will celebrate on February 16.

KinderPrep and Kindergarten: Decorate/create some sort of container for your friends to put valentines in. KinderPrep and Kindergarten classes will have their own individual class parties. Take your valentine boxes/bags to your classroom.

Grades 1–6: Decorate/create some sort of container for your friends to put valentines in. Grades 1-6 will be all together. Leave your containers on the tables in the lobby and make time to pass out your Valentines before lunch. After everyone eats we will announce when you can collect your container and dig in!

There are sign up sheets on the administration table. If you are planning on being here for the Valentines celebration, please write your students' names down so that everyone will know how many valentines to bring.

Middle Schoolers: If you want to do some kind of Valentine exchange please see the sheet on the administration table marked for your age group.
