Thank you to a guest speaker...

I would like to say thank you to our guest presenter in Science class a week ago. We liked all of the cool things you brought in for us to study. Okay, some people appreciated the rubberized sheep stomach more than others...but it was all interesting and appreciated! Thank you, Trisha!

Lunch this Tuesday

We will be ordering pizza for lunch this Tuesday, February 4 and next Tuesday, February 11. Get your order in at the administration table by 10:00am on those days if you would like a pizza for your family. Cost is $5 plus tax for a whole pizza.

(Did anyone notice I went from rubberized sheep stomach to lunch?)

Valentines Day

February 11, REACH will celebrate Valentines Day during lunch break. Students can decorate a box or bag for friends to distribute valentines into. Leave your decorated container on the table in the entry. We will open them after kids have eaten lunch.

Afternoon only students: we would love for you to join us. If possible please come a little early and join the fun.

FYI, this will be a pizza lunch day so you have the option of packing the valentines but not also the lunch!

Field Trips, Olympics, and Birthdays

Areas of Parent Partnership are just exploding! What a super group of people.

Field Trips

Thank you, Shelby, for organizing the field trip many of us enjoyed today at the Kansas Museum of History for KS History Day. We are happy to announce that Shelby has a passion for field trips and has volunteered to be the field trip coordinator for REACH. If you have any suggestions or thoughts for her you can pass them on to her in person or go through the REACH email address.

Olympics

Campfire time (right after lunch break, before afternoon classes resume) has taken on a fun focus of the 2014 Olympics. Thanks to Chrissy,  who has organized an activity for students to participate in tracking a country's progress in the games, and learning a few facts about the country they choose. Some students picked out countries this last week. If you would like to join in the fun, see the poster at the administration table for which countries are still available.

Instructions for the 2014 Olympics Activity:
1. Place your name on the sign up sheet by the country you want to follow.
2. Bring in a picture of your country's flag. This can be hand made or printed off from the computer.
3. Write down 3-4 facts about your country on a small sheet of paper (no bigger than a 6x6 inch paper). The flags and facts will be displayed on a poster board for everyone to see.
4. Keep track of the number of medals your country wins each day of the Olympic games and bring your medal totals to REACH each week. We will be keeping a sticker chart of the number of medals each country wins.

Birthdays

Student Birthday recognition. While we would like to find some reason to party and eat treats everyday, we decided once a every 4 weeks or so would work! Krystal has volunteered to coordinate a celebration that will recognize all the students who have a birthday in a particular month. At the end of lunch on the first Tuesday of each month, we will take a moment to sing to all the birthday students of the month; any parents of those students who wish to participate can help with a special treat. As this idea was just conceived, we will combine January and February on this Tuesday, February 4 and Krystal will bring cookies. A school email will be sent out if you would like to contact her to help.
